Advantage SA Regional Awards 2011
Coorong Wild Seafood received further recognition as an outstanding small business of the Murraylands and Riverland region at the Murray Bridge community club presentation dinner.
Winners of the Westpac Small Business Award for businesses with less than 10 employees, Glen and Tracy proudly accepted their hand blown glass pear trophy and certificate. On hand to congratulate the couple were Adrian Pederick MP, Allan Arbon Mayor of Rural City of Murray Bridge and many other well wishers.
Tracy thanked her great staff who have assisted the business to grow and support the Meningie community and region.
South Australian Seafood Awards 2011
Glen and Tracy Hill, proprietors of Coorong Wild Seafood were thrilled to be recognised as one of South Australia’s top seafood businesses. They shared their win with Clean Seas Tuna, the first time a joint award has been presented.
Coorong Wild Seafood is based at Meningie and started when fisherman Glen decided to process his own catch. Soon wife Tracy left fulltime employment to join Glen in the filleting room. The business has grown over the past 15 years and they now employ six local people, and purchase the additional fish they need from several other Lakes and Coorong fishermen.
They have moved into further value adding with a range of smoked mullet fillets which along with their frozen vacuum packed convenient packs are sold at their two Farmers market stalls and almost 45 retail outlets in the Adelaide and regional South Australia.
Recently they have sent product to Perth which makes it their third interstate market. However they are proud to say that their fish will always be available locally.
“It is important for our town and the state to have Coorong Mullet available” said Tracy. “People come from all over Australia to taste and buy mullet and some of the best chefs in Australia are serving Coorong Mullet in their restaurant, which is good advertising for the region.”
This is the second award for the pair with Glen winning the 2007 Leading Seafood Producer Award.
